Zeltiq Coolsculpting – patient satisfaction is very high

I was reviewing patient satisfaction rates on RealSelf.com – the website is a patient portal for news/reviews/Q-A for cosmetic surgical and non-surgical procedures.

Zeltiq is running a 83% patient satisfaction rate on realself.  In terms of patient satisfaction scores on Realself, Coolsculpting is tracking along with ‘Breast Augmentation’ and ‘Facelift’ – that’s pretty amazing for a non-invasive body contouring procedure. Certainly, these types of satisfaction surveys are biased toward either high or low scores (delighted or unhappy patients, but few ambivalent ones)- but reading the patient reviews, the ‘positive’ trend is really there.

Zeltiq has been in our office for about 10 months now. We are seeing nice Coolsculpting results with male ‘lovehandles’, and thin women with stubborn fatty regions along the lower abdomen and flanks. Treatments take just a couple of hours, and there is no ‘downtime’ or recovery after Coolsculpting.

We are hosting our monthly plastic and cosmetic surgery seminar at the Naficy Rejuvenation Center here in Bellevue WA. This informal seminar is your opportunity to see a lot of before and after photos and learn about cosmetic surgical procedures. I do primarily breast and body cosmetic surgery, but any question you have about facial procedures, Botox and fillers, lasers etc. will also be answered. Topics I plan to discuss this month include post-bariatric procedures, such as body-lifts, arm lifts and thigh lifts. We will talk about fat grafting to the breast for augmentation and enhancement. Zeltiq ‘Coolsculpting’ technology is now FDA approved for non-invasive fat reduction.

We’ve learned from Zeltiq that their exclusive ‘Coolsculpting’ fat reduction technique is now FDA approved. We’ve been using the device in an off-label capacity for fat reduction. But now its official. Expect some marketing in the various media outlets for Coolsculpting.

To review- the Zeltiq device uses carefully controlled tissue cooling to induce a fat reduction that occurs over the course of several months. It works. I’ve treated myself (love handles) and dozens of other patients.

The ideal candidate for Zeltiq Coolsculpting is a person at their ideal body weight, with just a bit of stubborn abdominal or flank fat. The result is a very moderate reduction in fattiness.

Patients with more diffuse regions of fattiness should consider liposuction for a more comprehensive result.

There are a few other non-invasive fat reduction devices out on the market, or soon to be appearing.  Zerona, a low-level laser therapy, has been reviewed extensively. Patient satisfaction is low- only 34% of patients reviewing the treatment on Realself.com thought it was ‘worth it’. That’s lower than Obama’s approval rating!

Plastic Surgery Seminar in Bellevue WA on June 16th 2010

Come to a free plastic surgery seminar at the Naficy Rejuvenation Center in Bellevue WA. We’re meeting at 6 pm on Wed June 16th. Parking will be validated. Snacks and wine will be served.

We’ll be discussing the latest in cosmetic and plastic surgery with an emphasis on new breast lifting techniques, lipo augmentation of the breast and Zeltiq cryolipolysis. This is a monthly discussion about what is truly the cutting edge in plastic surgery.

Zeltiq non-invasive fat reduction now available at our clinic!

The Naficy Rejuvenation Center received the Zeltiq cryolipolysis device a couple of days ago. We’ve got it set up, and did our first consult and treatment today.

The cryolipolysis concept is simple: when fatty tissues are cooled to a critical temperature, selective death of fat cells is induced. The overlying skin and connective tissue remains perfused and viable. Several weeks later, there is a significant reduction in fat content within the treated area. No incisions are required. No anesthesia is required. The treatment takes about one hour. Most patients require two treatment cycles to contour the abdomen, love handle or back roll areas.

The non-invasive body contouring space is really going to explode in the next couple of years. There are some other emerging technologies, including highly focused ultrasound (HIFU) devices, which are also effective. There are issues with all of these devices. We’re excited about Zeltiq because of its demonstrated efficacy and zero down-time.

The great thing about the addition of Zeltiq to our clinic is that we are predominantly a SURGICAL practice. Which means that if you are not a good candidate for Zeltiq (too much fat, fatty regions other than belly/flanks/back) then we have a terrific alternative for you: liposuction, tummy tuck etc.
